I won!

This past Monday, I found this four-leaf clover.

Then a little while later, I got a phone call informing me that I won a pair of tickets to see the Foo Fighters in Boston this Sunday.  

Woo Hoo!!!

All you had to do to win was fill out the form on the app.  I did that a couple weeks ago then pretty much forgot about it until I got a call from WBLM telling me I had to go intown to pick up the tickets at their office.     

I went in town to pick up the tickets.  Damn right!  

I have a little 50cc scooter that I rode intown, so I didn't have to pay for parking, which you have to do in that part of the city.  On my way back, one of Portland's finest spots me and follows me about a mile to my home.  He pulls up, and says, oh that's not the one.

I thought, ok.  

Apparently, somebody stole a scooter that looks just like mine.  

That sucks.

Oh well.  

God is good to me.

About a month ago I went to Goodwill by the pound, which is in Gorham Maine. It's a place to go treasure hunting. And occasionally you'll find something good.  While there, I found a DVD series called, "How to Play the Piano".  This is put out by The Great Courses, featuring Professor Pamela D. Pike, who is a music professor from the Louisiana State University.  There are six DVDs with a total of 36 lessons.  It costed about 50 cents. I'm currently six lessons into it, and I'm doing things I've never been able to do before. I'm playing chords, I'm playing melodies.  I'm learning the patterns.  I'm using both hands.  I've even gone off on my own and started learning a couple of classic rock songs.   I also bought the book which accompanies the DVDs from Amazon.Kindle. Freewheeling

I don't have anything to say this morning.   So why am I posting this?  Because sometimes you just have to freewheel it.  I am just typing.  I am just doing what I do.  I write every morning, or at least try.  It keeps my brain focused.  It keeps me sharp.  It is a way to work through my personal bullshit that I have to deal with.  It's a way to solve problems.  It's a way to work out finances so I can keep my head above water.   Writing can be somewhat therapeutic.  I can't get bogged down in my thoughts, so I need a way to work through them.  That's what writing does.  It helps to think things through, to clarify.   I write short little thoughts here, but they usually start out in my Dump Book.  What is a Dump Book?  It's like a journal except after you write in it you tear the page out and put it in the shredder.  Why?  Because nobody ever has to see it. All good things must come to an end

All good things must come to an end.  For me, it's the end of my personal Summer Concert Series.  I went to the last one last night.  It was great.  Primus, Coheed and Cambria with Puddles Pity Party opening up for them.  We also saw, Styx, Foreigner and John Wait on Aug 3rd, the Smashing Pumpkins on the 4th.  We spent the night at a hotel in Bangor Maine for that.  We saw the Foo Fighters on July 21st at Fenway Park in Boston.  We took an Amtrak Train for that.  And there was a free show at LL Bean in Freeport Maine which was Los Lobos on July 13th.  That's five great shows this summer.   There are a few more that I'd like to go to but there is only so much money in the pot.   I like to take advantage of National Concert Week which happens in May.  The tickets on Ticketmaster are like $25 bucks.  The Foo Fighters tickets, I won from a radio contest.  That was totally unexpected even though...
